Our family of 5 including three children (teen/tweens) thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Brooklyn and DUMBO with Adam. Adam did a wonderful job keeping both adults and kids entertained and engaged and had everything planned out just right to maximize touring time while still allowing for snack and bathroom breaks.

We have traveled extensively both in the US and overseas, and our teen daughter said Adam was the best tour guide we've had. High praises from a teenager! I cannot say enough about Adam. How special it was to be able to see all the sites of NY in a small intimate setting. Adam took my son and I to parts of NY and Brooklyn that we never would have seen if we walked it on our own. Adam was amazing! From our first contact with him (8 months before our trip - we’re planners), he was incredibly responsive spending time on the phone to help give us suggestions to plan our trip - not just the time we would spend with him. I'm not a fan of tours, or people in general, but this tour with Adam was easily the best way to see New York City. It was a much more personal and enjoyable experience, seeing incredible places that we would've never known existed, as well as learning about the rich history of the city.

The level of customer service was refreshing, to the point where Adam sent a welcome package to our hotel room which included a subway map, a handwritten card, as well as some other goodies.

We mentioned some places we wanted to see, and with some suggestions from Adam, it made for an awesome full day experience, without the stress of rushing to our next destination or trying to figure out how to get to where we wanted to go.

I’d give Adam 100 stars if I could. Getting a tour with him is such a personalized experience - we walked the Brooklyn bridge, saw the financial district, got delicious treats in SoHo and even saw the famed Cornelia St of Taylor Swift lore. Adam’s tour was a highlight in our 4 days in NYC over Thanksgiving. He goes above and beyond before, during, & even after the tour with planning, checking-in & tips. All 3 of our children said, “Amazing!” as we ended… high praise and quite a feat to please kids ranging from 10 - 21. For a family of 5, we would have paid the same or even more for a shorter group tour and instead we had a custom tour at our own pace with Adam to ourselves. We definitely will book again anytime we’re back in NYC!

Adam made our first day to the city effortless. He is a rockstar and incredibly knowledgeable. My son just moved in as a first year at NYU. We really were not familiar with all the areas around NYU, so we arrived early and booked a tour with Adam Guy at I Know A Guy NYC Tours for the morning before move-in. He met us at our hotel and had tailored a tour just for us in the neighborhoods around NYU, hitting bakeries, restaurants, interesting historical and pop culture sites, and the NYU bookstore. I took my 40 year old intellectually disabled son to NYC and could not have done it without Adam! He let us go at our own pace (even though we had to stop and rest every few feet). He was so patient and understanding regarding my son’s disability and was so knowledgeable about the city. He even told me what bus to take to get to the Port Authority as we did not stay in New York. He walked us BACK to the Port Authority and right to our gate, after our tour had ended. Adam was more than accommodating of my son’s needs! If I could give him an A+++, it wouldn’t be a high enough mark!

We have been to NYC several times and wanted to check out the little unknown areas. We were with Adam Guy from 9-6 and walked all around Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, SOHO, and ended up at Roosevelt Island. We took the tram to and from the Island. While that was my favorite stop finished off watching the sunset over Manhattan from a rooftop bar, I also enjoyed all the hidden secrets of New York we learned. Thanks Adam! From the best morning bagel to the Highline, the Vessel and Hudson Yards to Roosevelt Island, navigating the subways, NY Library, Grand Central Station and do much more (including tracking us down to return a forgotten jacket!) and just answering every question and giving so much info, he absolutely made our trip!! How to craft an NYC visit that will be a crowd pleaser for seasoned travelers comprised of an ex-Manhattanite, her teen son and her history loving husband? Enlist I Know A Guy, and most importantly, Adam. Start to finish, this was the pinnacle of tour experiences. Once I booked, Adam set up time to go over our interests, and proposed a walking tour of Soho and the Village.

Having lived in NYC for 16+ years, I figured this tour would be primarily for the rest of my family--Adam proved me wrong, as it was a huge hit for all of us. From the welcome note, to greeting us at our hotel, to the encyclopedic knowledge of buildings, local history, bathroom stops and delicious taste treats, Adam guided us through these charming parts of the city beautifully. The teen was engaged (thanks largely to Adam's energy and customization), the history lover was sated and I was delighted to discover things about the city I never knew.

We booked Adam based on a referral from a mom’s referral Facebook group. So happy we booked him. He called within minutes of requesting information online and we were fast friends. He assessed our goals of our mother/ son trip. Our request was nothing too touristy and to enjoy NYC like the locals do. He helped me nail down not only our tour with him but he gave solid recommendations and timing to schedule the other three days of our vacation. Every rec was spot on. The day of our private tour he met us where we were getting our morning bagel at 9am and off we went. He helped school us in the ways of the subway and I am proud to say that we continued to use it for transportation for the duration of our mother/ son trip.

He kicked off the tour with some baseball trivia and historical landmarks which piqued my son’s interest immediately. We walked Brooklyn Heights and learned noteworthy history such as visiting the site of the “Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad.” We enjoyed the views from the Brooklyn Promenade. We learned about and walked through Dumbo, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Chinatown. My son wanted Dim Sun for lunch and we enjoyed a delicious and authentic meal together. We took off to Roosevelt Island and learned it’s storied history and conquered part of Central Park. Many New Yorkers that I spoke with during the trip stated that we saw parts of New York that they had not even been to and were very impressed with what we covered in a one day time period. He continued to check in with us for the duration of our trip to assure our Broadway show experiences were satisfactory and he gave us more good recommendations. I can’t wait to book him again to tackle another part of NYC with my husband and other two sons in the future. He is a wealth of knowledge, personality, and fun. Adam is passionate about his city and wants you to enjoy it as much as he does. He is the best kept secret in the city and you should book him while you still can!!

"Adam is great for newbies and experienced NYC visitors alike. I am often in NYC for work so it was important that I get a guide that could show me something new. Adam took us to Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO and it was an amazing experience! I have taken many tours and work in the industry as a guide. I have a pretty high bar and Adam sailed right over it. Why? As a family of four with a pre-teen and a full teenager, we opted for the Brooklyn Heights/DUMBO/Brooklyn Bridge tour. It turned out to be the perfect mix of interest, history, and beauty! I cannot recommend taking a tour with Adam enough, after spending the day with him we wished he was with us all week. Having someone who knows the history of the area you are exploring is everything not to mention the fact that I as the primary planner of activities could check out for the day and just follow Adam and take it all in. I didn't have to think about where the nearest bathroom was if we were hitting all the highlights in the area, or if we were taking the right train. Adam does it all and will even make sure you know where to eat and grab a tasty treat!
 

Adam is also more than happy to take photos of you in all the key places. The best photos of our trip were the ones Adam took! When people asked us what we saw in NY, we all talk about the day we spent with Adam. He is not only a seasoned tour guide, but he knows how to "read the room" and is extremely flexible with what is working for you and what isn't. We were fortunate to spend a good half day touring Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge (and various streets and subways in between to get there) with Adam. And boy does this man know New York! But more than that he knows how to do a tour. At no point did we feel like we were on an organised tour (and I’ve done plenty of those!!) It felt we were walking through neighbourhood streets with a newly found friend who we knew we would happily meet up with again when we next return.

Adam is just fantastic! He kept us interested and entertained and found the perfect balance between chatting and simply exploring. We learned about the history of the area with some really fun stories throughout. My 14 year old said that if all of her high school teachers were as engaging as Adam that she’d learn so much more (and I agree!) and the only souvenir my 12 year old wanted from the trip was a Brooklyn hoodie so that speaks volumes coming from a middle-school guy!

"I came across Adam's tour on my local mom's Facebook page. After reading reviews and visiting Adam's webpage, I decided to book with him. He contacted me the day I made the reservation to discuss what I was looking for out of the tour. My kids had never been to NYC and my husband had only been twice before.
